Experience the hot, soft, and fantastic glass, which behaves as if it were alive.

At our Mini School, lessons in glassware making are given in the studio at Kujukuri, with the aim of offering customers the opportunity to feel the heat and softness of glass.
We invite you to come and enjoy the lessons, right in the middle of a manufacturing site where numerous products are being made.
Couples and families are also welcome at our classes.

Learn the technique for rolling out molten glass of about 1,200ºC using a paddle. Ideal for beginners. Participants have a choice of making a plate, pot, flower vase, ash tray, beer mug, or other item.

This is a course for two friends, couples, and others to make a piece of glassware. Enjoy working together to make a wonderful keepsake.

A method called free-blowing is used for making single-flower vases, cups, glasses with a handle, small bowls, or other items.


This is a class for rolling molten glass at about 1,200ºC using a paddle, which is ideal for beginners.
Have fun making a plate, pot, flower vase, ash tray, beer mug, etc.

Elementary school students and older
・Tuition per person:
2,625 yen (including tax) for junior high school students and older
1,575 yen (tax included) for elementary school students

・Lesson duration
Each person actually works on the glass for about three minutes.
Be prepared, as glass hardens very quickly.
After explaining the overall procedures, participants will take turns and actually try glass making processes.

For groups of 10 or more persons, we may offer classes in the afternoon on weekdays and other times not indicated above. Please feel free to consult us.
・Handing over your work
The pieces you have worked on will be cooled slowly, in about three hours.
If you participated in a class starting at 14:00 or later, your work will be available for you from the following day.
・Shipping your work
If you wish, we will ship your work anywhere in Japan.
Please note that a 210 yen packaging fee will apply, in addition to the shipping charge.

In the rolling classes, each participant pairs up with a Sugahara craftsman to work on one glassware piece. Alternatively, this is a class where two persons, such as friends, couples, or others, can work together to make one glassware piece. Have fun making a wonderful keepsake together.

Fifth grade students and older, who have tried glass rolling (in groups of two)

3,150 yen (including tax)

With the free-blowing method where glass is inflated by blowing in the air using a pipe and then formed without a mold, participants make one-flower vase, cup, glass with a handle, small bowl, or other item. Choose from wide range of glass colors.

Fifth grade students and above
・Tuition
Class A: 3,675 yen; make a glass, small bowl, or flower vase
Class B: 4,200 yen; make a glass with a handle
